Enjoying, Protecting and Enhancing Footpaths around St Albans
What We Do
Our Walks Programme Organisers regularly draw up a programme of weekly group walks, available to members.
We encourage all members to lead walks and support new members in gaining experience and confidence to lead their own walks.
As well as walking all year round, we do lots of other work, all of it voluntary.
We check all the footpaths in each parish in the St Albans district and report problems to Hertfordshire County Council.
We also suggest improvements to the footpath network, feeding into the local implementation of the Hertfordshire Rights of Ways Improvement Plan (ROWIP).
We work with St Albans District Council and Hertfordshire County Council to maintain and protect the rights of way and pay for improvements such as new kissing gates.
We work hard to improve and update our walking books.
As well as our sociable walks, we have a number of social events throughout the year including coffee mornings, Christmas lunches and summer parties.
